In today’s fast-moving world, where success is often associated with talent, education, or connections, there are stories that challenge this narrative—stories that prove that mindset, discipline, and courage can outweigh every limitation.
Aakanksha Shivankar’s journey is one such story.
Born in Bhandara, a small town in Maharashtra, her life began in an environment where opportunities were limited and exposure was minimal. Like many middle-class families, her upbringing was defined by simplicity, responsibility, and strong values.
Her father worked tirelessly to support the family, while her mother played a crucial role in shaping her mindset. Discipline was not optional in her household—it was a way of life.
However, Aakanksha’s academic journey was far from extraordinary. She struggled with studies, lacked focus, and often found herself disconnected from traditional education. Despite multiple attempts, she was unable to achieve top scores, leading to self-doubt and pressure.
But her story was never meant to be defined by marks.
Choosing the science stream after 10th grade became one of her boldest decisions. Despite having a weak foundation in mathematics and facing doubts from others, she moved forward. This decision reflected an early sign of something powerful—her willingness to challenge limitations.
Her college life brought its own struggles. Backlogs, distractions, and lack of clarity often slowed her progress. Yet, she did not quit. She completed her graduation and went on to pursue an MBA in HR, even during the uncertainty of the pandemic.
What followed next was the real test.
Stepping into the professional world without experience, confidence, or exposure, she faced rejection after rejection during her job search. Multiple interviews ended in disappointment. But she kept trying.
Her breakthrough came when she got an opportunity at Pride in Pune.
Moving to a new city, far from her family, was not easy. With a starting salary of ₹12,000, many questioned her decision. But she saw it differently—it was not about the amount, it was about the opportunity.
Her initial days were challenging. The company culture was strict. Expectations were high. Feedback was often harsh. But instead of feeling discouraged, she used every correction as a lesson.
She began taking ownership of multiple responsibilities—HR recruitment, administrative roles, food management, and event coordination. Her adaptability became her strength.
One of the defining phases of her career was organizing and coordinating a Delhi trip for families. Managing logistics, communication, and execution at that scale was overwhelming. Mistakes were made. Pressure was intense.
But she did not step back.
She improved.
That phase became a turning point, transforming her from someone who followed instructions into someone who could lead.
Soon, her growth opened doors to international opportunities. She traveled across multiple countries, gaining exposure, confidence, and a global perspective.
Then came the biggest opportunity—Dubai.
Selected among a few employees, she was given just three days to prepare for a life-changing move. Leaving her comfort zone behind, she chose growth over fear.
In Dubai, she stepped into a completely new environment. Different culture, different expectations, and higher responsibilities. From managing gifting operations for international clients to leading teams, she continuously pushed her limits.
Her work required coordination across countries, understanding global clients, and delivering results under pressure. She worked long hours, often sacrificing comfort to meet expectations.
But with every challenge, she evolved.
Her journey reached an emotional milestone when she brought her parents to Dubai. For them, it was their first international experience. For her, it was a moment of pride—a moment that reflected years of effort, discipline, and sacrifice.
Today, Aakanksha holds a leadership role and is recognized for her growth, performance, and dedication. She has received awards, appreciation, and opportunities that validate her journey.
But beyond achievements, her story represents something bigger.
It represents possibility.
It shows that a small-town girl can build a global identity.
It proves that you do not need perfect marks to succeed.
You need consistency.
You need courage.
You need the willingness to step beyond comfort.
Aakanksha Shivankar’s journey is not just inspiring—it is empowering.
Because it tells every individual, especially those from small towns and middle-class families, that your starting point does not define your destination.
Your mindset does.
